BUILDING INSPECTOR/CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER VACANCY
The Village of Seneca is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Part-Time Building Inspector/Zoning Enforcement Officer. This position is responsible for issuing building permits and code enforcement, as well as plan review and building and field inspections. Qualified candidates will perform residential and commercial building inspections, interact with the public and have the ability to explain technical information to both trained and non-technically trained individuals. Candidates will review residential and commercial building plans, have working knowledge of building codes, and have a good understanding of the building inspection process and familiarity with the comprehensive plans of the Village of Seneca. Candidates will also have the ability to understand village code and ordinances with the skill to determine code violations and issue appropriate corrective actions, particularly with property maintenance. Must have working knowledge of computers, particularly Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel). Must attend monthly meetings of the Planning Commission, which are held the second Wednesday of every month at 6:00 p.m. at village hall. This position reports to and works under the direct supervision of the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety and the Planning Commission.
Qualifications:
Two years of related construction or trade school and electrical experience preferred. Applicants must show demonstrated training and/or advanced technical instruction in related fields of mechanical, electrical, plumbing or building construction. Must have a valid driver’s license.
Salary & Benefits:
Monthly salary of $600.00, plus hourly compensation for attendance at conferences or court appearances.
